For the first time in the Monaco Gulf collection, this special edition houses the ultra-precise in-house Heuer 02 calibre, encapsulated in a fine brushed and polished steel case. Embodying the spirit of avant-garde and innovation of both icons, this indomitable classic sets the scene with pride.
Sporting a resolutely contemporary look with its refined 39mm steel case, the new TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf Special Edition redefines the meaning of cool. Gulf’s emblematic bright racing blue and orange stripes stand out against a dark blue sunray brushed dial. Visible through the sapphire caseback, a special orange engraving matches Gulf’s orange pantone. A legend revisited.
1971 saw the release of the movie “Le Mans,” starring American legend Steve McQueen. Driving the ultra-rare Porsche 917K that bore the TAG Heuer shield over Gulf’s iconic orange and blue livery, the King of Cool immortalized the first chapter in the TAG Heuer X Gulf saga.
To mark the beginning of their official partnership, TAG Heuer and Gulf launched a special edition Monaco at Basel World 2018. Sporting its mythical steel square case, the watch featured the Gulf colors for the first time. The ultra-limited 50-piece watch honored the 50th anniversary of Gulf’s first victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Redesigned to celebrate the TAG Heuer X Gulf partnership at Monaco Historic Grand Prix, the special edition TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf is as rebellious as ever. The first of its kind to encapsulate the in-house Heuer 02 movement, this mythical piece takes this true design monument to a whole new level.
Released in 1969, the striking Heuer Monaco was an eye-catching phenomenon. By reinventing the aesthetic codes of traditional watchmaking, it quickly gained the status of an icon. The reason? Its one-of-a-kind angular square case, as unruly as charismatic.
